Abstract
Stereum sanguinolentum (Alb. et Schw.) Fr., an important wood-destroying Basidiomycete attacking coniferous substrates, has been recorded recently for the first time in Kenya. This fungus is widely distributed throughout the Northern Hemisphere where it is found colonizing debris on the forest floor and invading standing trees through pruning scars and other wounds.
