Abstract
During the year April 1950 to J\Iarch 1951, 378 stomach smears of Glossina morsitans Westw. were collected on the spiral fly-round at Daga-Iloi, Tanganyika (Jackson, 1955). The flies were nearly all males and were in what is known as Stage 1 of hunger; that is to say, the blood was visible externally. The stomach contents were expressed on to filter papers and were examined upwards of a year later for the presence of blood from the various host-animals known to have been present, from spoor records or direct observation, on the fly-round.
