Abstract
Four commercially available pumps were tested comprehensively for coffee factory duty, and all were found capable of mechanically transporting wet parchment coffee with a low degree of damage imparted to beans. The choice of a pump out of these four for a particular coffee factory will depend mostly on the price, throughput, maximum amount of coffee handled in the coffee/water mixture, etc., and, to a lesser extent, on the damage done to the beans or the efficiency of pumping. Necessary figures in these respects for each of the four pumps have been given in the body of this article.
