Abstract
Arid and semi-arid ecosystems in Kenya comprises 80 percent of the country. These ecosystems are characterized by a diverse flora of woody and harbacious species which form an important resouce base for the production of livestock and wildlife products.(Pratt et al. 1966).Over one half of Kenya's livestock is produced in range land.(Ayuko,1978)and the importance of range is likely to increase in the future.
