Abstract
The amount of feed affects the age, but not the size, at which heifers attain, puberty (Reid, 1963). Dairy heifers are bred according to size and not age (Ensminger, 1971; Foley et al., 1972), thus well-fed heifers will be bred earlier and will come into production at an earlier age than those that are on a, lower plane of nutrition.
