Abstract
Diagrammatic sketch to show the generally accepted route of migration (indicated with arrows) of Trypanosoma (Nannomonas) congolense in Glossina, in relation to the various parts associated with the alimentary canal. These various parts include the labium (Lbi), Labrum (Lbr), food channel (FC), hypopharynx (Hyp), Salivary glands (SG), crop duct (cd), crop (C), proventriculus (PROV), ectoperitrophic space (ec), endoperitrophic space (en), pritrophic membrane (PH) I midgut (HG), malpigian tubules (Hpt) and the hindgut (HG). t = trypanosomes 1 being ingested by the tsetsefly. t2 trypanosomes being released from t he proboscis of the tsetse fly.
