Abstract
A Large Number of Fertilizer Trials Conducted In Central Kenya over Many Years both In Research Stations and Farmers' Fields Have Revealed That, On Many Arable Soils There Are Marked Crop Responses To Added Nutrients Especially Phosphorus And Nitrogen (Bellis And Boswinkle 1953-1962). Boswinkle (1961) Reports That Certain Soils Of Central Kenya Give A Residual Effect To Applied Phosphorus For Several Seasons. Russell (1958) and James and Kerkham (1960) Recorded Similar Residual Effects for Farmyard Manure.
