Abstract
Concerted efforts have been made to rand alternative feed resources for the domestic ruminant animals. This has been particularly so in the area of agro byproduct utilization (Kevelenge" al., 1983; Urio and Kategile, 1986; Said and Wanyoike, 1986; Dzowela, 1986). Agro by-products include the crop wastes produced on the farm. Such by-products either have a high dry matter (OM) content or a high moisture content. By-products with a high dry matter content include maize stover, rice straw and wheat straw, while those with a high moisture content include potato vines and horticulturalresidues (Kevelenge, 1980».
