Abstract
The district of the Elgeyo and Marakwet tribes consists of some 1,100 square miles of hilly broken country roughly .1 N. and 35.5°E. It may conveniently be divided into three zones: the high country (7,500-9,000 ft.), the escarpment, much of which is sheer cliff (5, 00(}-6,500 ft.), and the valley (3,500. - 4,000 ft.). The altitudes quoted are approximate.
