Abstract
Histological changes occurring in the female reproductive tract have been studied in a few breeds of sheep for instance in the Merino ewes Restall, 1966), Welsh Mountain ewes (Hutchinson and Robertson, 1966). But there is to date no report in the scientific literature on any of these changes in genital tract of the Nigerian Dwarf Sheep, an ecotype which is small sized and adapted to the hot- wet climate Of the min forest belt 'of West Africa. The purpose of this study therefore is to quantity the normal cyclical histological variations in the genital tract and associated endocrine glands (pituitary, thyroid and adrenal glands) of the ewes of the Nigerian Dwarf Sheep.
