Abstract
Germplasm originating from CIAT VEF Nurseries, International Ascochyta blight nursery, Rwanda introductions and Uganda germ plasm collection were screened for Ascochyta resistance in the yield at the cool highlands side of south west Uganda. Genotypes resistant to Ascochyta blight were identified. Disease incidence differed across seasons. Entries differed significantly in Aschochyta Bcores at pod filling (R7) and physiological maturity stage (RB) but not at flowering stage (R6) Resistance was predominantly found in chambers as opposed to bush beans, though chambers were poorly adapted. Resistant bush entries G4603 and BAT 1416 were crossed with susceptible cultivars to incorporate resistance.
