Abstract
A brief account has been given previously of the effects of fertilizers applied to coconut palms on the sandy soils of the Tanganyika coast (Anderson, 1967). Information on pastures associated with coconut plantations is very relevant to the productivity and economic viability of cattle/coconut schemes. This paper presents and discusses the changes in botanical composition and productivity of an indigenous pasture as a result of fertilizers applied beneath mature coconut palms at the Livestock Breeding station Tanga
