Abstract
The extensive occurrence of denudation surfaces with, residual pediment inselbergs and intensely weathered superficial layers, dominated with monosiollitisation and allitisation have been repeatedly reported from tropical lands. however, the process at Hork in the development of these surfaces and the origin of the stone-lines, ronongst other-l' quaternary deposits, have not been fully understood. Most W0rkers with field experience in tropical areas have favored scarp retreat and sedimentation or etchplanation as the operative processes for the plantations surfaces. The presence of stone-lines have been variously attributed to sheet-erosion, climatic changes and even to termite macroterms) activities •
