Abstract
In 1938 Sir Frank Stock dale visited Malaya, Java, Sumatra and Ceylon. His report on' this visit includes a section on cinchona which is of interest to East African planters attempting to cultivate this crop and has therefore been summarized. 1 he report describes briefly the salient features of the industry in the Netherlands East Indies, research and experimental work, and the organization which has enabled these countries to attain their pre-eminent position as producers of quinine.
