Abstract
Weeding trials were carried out during three consecutive seasons at various locations rn Kenya to determine the number and spacing of handweedings required for good bean yields. A first weeding at 20 days after crop emergence was found to be required in all areas. I n are~s with medium to high rainfall and a crop growth period of 100 days and over, a second weeding at about 20 days after the first one proved to be necessary. Recommendations to farmers are based on these results, bearing in mind that as a first step of good weed control, planting should be done in a weed-free environment.
