Abstract
This report by the Task Force on Equipment Selection and Procurement Planning contains an inventory of existing equipment and their condition. It covers laboratory, farm, and workshop and office equipment. These are the four major areas which require rehabilitation for any successful research programme mandate for each centre. Though not comprehensive, it was necessary because it formed a basis of recommendations arrived at by the task force. The task force, recommended only those equipment which will be put into operation immediately to support the ongoing research activity and specific research programme in each centre. The need to carefully select and recommend the required items compelled the task force to visit twenty eight KART research centres. To cater for each centre's immediate needs without oversupplying it, the task force thoroughly used the detailed discussions held at each research centre with centre directors, researchers and the users.
