Abstract
-A short resume is given of the history of forest entomology in East Africa. During the period 1957-61 the Fore,t Insect Survey progress,ed at a reduced rate due thirstily to the hiatus after J. C. M. Gardner's retirement, and secondly to its subsequent eclipse by specific investigations. It is now entering a phase of considerable expansion. Provision has been made for an increased flow of material. Improved facilities for this division's capacity aan inter territorial centre for the circulation of information and insect material have been planned.
