Abstract
Reference to the area here considered may be made to the Survey of Kenya 1:50,000 topographic map sheets 149/2 and 150/1.The area is contained by longititudes 37 degree 26' to 37 degree 36'. East and latitudes 1degree 09' to 1 degree 11'.South.It borders the Ytter furrow in the region between Kithimani and the furrow outlet at river Mwita Syano. The survey covers both sides of the furrow and is limited by the extent to which the land may be irrigated by either gravity or pumping. The area contained by the furrow and the continous thick line(see Soil map)is that part which may be considered for irrigation by gravity while the part which may be contained by the thick broken line and the furrow may only be considered for irrigation by pumping. The total area offered for irrigation by both methods approximated 3,200 hactres.
