Abstract
It is not possible to give any explanation for the lymphoblastic hyperplasia that occurs in the early stage of East Coast Fe\'el, since no parasites were detected in these active cells. It seems possible that some factor associated with the parasites causes this hyperplasia in preparation for later invasion by the parasite itself. Barnett (4) discussed this phenomenon and concluded that a diffusible factor is liberated by the parasite which may be initially stimulating to lymphopoietic tissues.
