Abstract
The vegetation of Karamoja may. for the purpose of this paper, be classified into Savanna and Steppe. The Savanna is characterized by a perennial grass sward with scattered trees while the Steppe or bush country (using the term "steppe" in the sense proposed at the 1956 Specialists Meeting on PhytoGeography, Yangambi) is distinguished by the presence of a shrub or tree cover of varying density with a ground cover of mainly annual grasses and herbs.
