Abstract
The Presence of Amber Beans in clean green coffee from some estates in Kenya is not an uncommon occurrence. Devonshire (I) described amber beans as "smooth yellowish beans, cause unknown", and later in the same reference he states that " pales" and "semi-pales" in a roast can result from the presence of amber beans in the green sample. Plate L illustrates the degree of colour difference that exists between normal greyblue and amber-coloured beans.
