Abstract
The question posed at the beginning of this study sought information on how digestion in the camel compares with that in the ox, and on whether there are differences in digestion in the fore-stomach of the 2 species. To answer these questions, digestion and fermentation rates in the fore-stomach of the camel and the Zebu steer were evaluated in the laboratory where environmental conditions, feeding regimes, and management of the animals were standardized The results were obtained from a small number of animals and further work involving more animals should be done before any final conclusions are drawn.
