Abstract
This paper reports the results of quantitative root-sampling of Kikuyu grass and Wattle trees in a deep stonefree soil with ample water storage. The Kikuyu grass (Pennisetum clandestinum) root measurements were taken from a permanent pasture at Tigoni (altitude 7,500 ft.) and the Wattle (Acacia mollissima) from an eight-year-old mature plantation on the Muguga estate (altitude 6,900 ft.).
