Abstract
In the semi-arid Kenya lowlands textually contrasting saline deposits have given rise to varying degrees of contemporary solodization associated with specific positions in the landscape. This pattern of soils can be explained either on the basis of solodization preceding a cycle of erosion or vice versa.
