Abstract
In the Trans Nzoia rainfall was below average in the first half (April and May) of the rainy season, but above average from June to September. January was unusually wet (plus 143 per cent) and February dry (minus 82 per cent). In Kavirondo the rains were generally good. The greatest departures from average were July (plus 30 per cent) and February (minus 76 per cent). West of the Rift there was a shortage during the first half of the rainy season, April being 50 per cent below average, but June to September were consistently above average. January and December were comparatively wet, and February and November dry.
