Abstract
In his book "The Earth's Problem Climate", TREWARTHA (28) discusses the Question of climatic causes - or, to be more exact, the question of the special distribution patterns and the seasonal changes in climatic elements. In doing so, he contributes substantially to the development of "climatology", a concept which for reasons of practical application is often considered synonymous with climatography – the description of patterns of climatic elements. Further developments of regional climatology at present take two distinctive courses - local or topoclimatology (THORNTHWAITE) whose method was recently expounded by KNOCH (21), and world-climatology (19) whose problems have only nowadays been recognized as such.
