Abstract
Seed of Andropogon gayaflus var. bisquamulatus (Hochst.) Hack., was sown in pots and later thinned to a 100 single seedlings which were set out, 1 X 1 metre, on one-third of a 300 sq. metre plot at Kabanyolo University Farm. The remainder of the plot was kept weed free by hoeing and mulching. The following two root investigations were carried out two and a half years after the establishment of the plot, by which time the tussocks were mature and weed roots minimal in the weeded part of the plot.
