Abstract
Field observations and experiments in the Kenya Highlands have shown that the severity of Dothistroma Blight (Dothistroma pini Hulbary) in young Pinus radiata is reduced where the host is grown in shade. The effect is attributed largely to a reduction of the sporulation of the pathogen on infected tissues under these conditions. The growth of young P. radiata is seriously checked by shade and there is little chance of the development of these observations as a field control measure of Dothistroma Blight.
