Abstract
The routine plant analysis methods in use at Kawanda Research Station, which include the determination of total nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium and potassium, are described. Using these methods which require no automatic equipment, five technicians can complete the preparation, chemical analysis and recording of results of 23 plant samples per day. The precision of these methods is reported, and the potential use of crop leaf analysis as a guide to fertilizer use in Uganda is emphasized.
