Abstract
The profitability of a small stall-feeding unit using both Nganda and grade Friesian cattle is given. The profit from Nganda cattle as mainly in the form of manure whereas the Friesian grade cattle showed a profit of over Sh. 2.000 per acre. Difficulties of construction and operation of the unit are described. The place of such units as a means of introducing mixed farming into some areas of Uganda is discussed.
