Abstract
Four varieties of Helianthus were planted using a closer spacing of 15x 1 Ocm in order to minimize the size of the stems. The demand for sunflower has increased during the year 2000 in the local market. Free samples were used to the local suppliers and they informed us that the demand has risen especially in the month of February. Helianthus production is very easy and affordable to the small-scale growers and once awareness creation is done, then we shall plant on-farm trials. At the moment several methods of production e.g. pinching are being tried at the center to ensure that the complete production is availed to the farmers
