Abstract
The year 1964 saw both the partial implementation of and the ending of regionalism. It also marked the first anniversary of Kenya's Independence and attainment of Republican status within the Commonwealth. From the purely departmental point of view, regionalism was not conducive to efficient working, as authority was split between Central Government and the regions instead of being one entity. The main cry, from political leaders and the general farming public alike, has been the need for hard work and accelerated agricultural development. As a result, a true team spirit has been emerging between people and the agricultural staff. This new and more progressive approach has led to far more profound thought being given to the problems facing agriculture such as fragmentation of land and has resulted in closer agricultural administration between the various committees and boards.
