Abstract
Only two aphids are known to be specific on Cruciferous crops in East Africa. They are the Cabbage Aphid, Brevicoryne brassica! (L.) which is covered with grey wax dust in life and Lipaphis pseudobrassica! (Davis), a green aphid sometimes calIed the False Cabbage Aphid. The two species may also be distinguished by the relative size and shape of the siphunculi and cauda. In microscope preparations brassica! shows a dorsal abdominal pattern of transverse black bars which is absent in pseudobrassica!.
