Abstract
Plant genetics and environmental conditions affect plant growth. Crop yield will therefore depend on these two general factors. The genetics of a plant will include: yield potential and other, growth characteristics such as disease resistance and drought hardiness. On the other hand environmental conditions regarded as the most important in plant growth are: temperature, water availability, composition of the atmosphere, soil aeration, soil reaction(acidity or alkalinity), biotic factors and supplies of mineral nutrients.
