Abstract
Present methods which are used by farmers for cleaning of crop seed for sowing, if properly carried out and followed by simple mechanical cleaning, will produce commercially acceptable seed samples of most crops, but they are not effective in eliminating weed seeds from teff, finger millet and nug. The occurrence of species of Po[ygonum and A vena in samples of wheat and barley is likely to pose serious problems, however.
