Abstract
Zinc is an essential plant micro nutrient which is related to chlorophyll synthesis. It has been identifie~ in a number of plant enzymes such as carbonic aDhydras9. glutamic, alcoho-1., and Lactic dehydrogenases (Vallee and ¥acker, 1970). Deficiency of zinc in plants leads to malformationst known as "Little Leaf" or "rosette" formation. A typical zinc-deficiency symptom in naize and citru5·isthe appearance of a green midrib~and veins with a whitish colour between them (Wallace 1961f:Sprague,_ 1964). Zinc deficiency smptoms in maize usually occur within two weeks of seedling emergence.
