Abstract
There is little doubt that the sisal plant is in the main a surface feeder; but although the main concentration of its root-system is in the top 30 in. of soilmany roots may be found in certain good soils to a depth of five or more feet, An average five-year-old plant on a soU S\lch. as (3) in which the main copcentration of the root-system is in the top 29 in, of soil represents a "normal" type. The lateral extension of roots in this soil is 10 to 15 ft.
