Abstract
A recent publication by G. V. Jacks of the Imperial Bureau of Soil Science* reviews land classification in the sense of "the grouping of lands according to their suitability for producing plants of economic importance". This type of stock-taking is an essential prelude to sound long-term development plans, and is of particular importance in the British Colonial Empire at the present time.
