Abstract
Coffee planters in the closely settled districts, particularly in Kiambu, are well clear of the pollution of bodies of water caused by coffee factory effluents where there are numerous coffee factories, situated along the same stream, the stream water available at the lower estates is often in a high state of pollution. This same polluted water, besides being liable to cause a taint in coffee, is also the main supply for estate labour and stock and often forms the only available supply for the district below the coffee zone.
