Abstract
Anatomical changes during the formation and growth of roots in stem cuttings of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. are described. A newly-formed band of lignified xylem cells, arising from the cambium and separated from the original Xylem of the stem by a zone of parenchyma, occurred in the basal portion of the stem of a regenerating cutting.
