Abstract
Coffee leaf rust, caused by the fungus Hemileia vastatrix Berk Br. is one of the devastating diseases of Coffee. Coffea arabica in Kenya has been subject to attack by this disease since the crop was introduced in the 1900's. Consequently, various investigations have been undertaken to control this disese through the use of fungicides. In addition, research work to provide resistant varieties requiring little fungicidal protection is now in progress not only in Kenya, but in many Africa,American, and Asiatic countries,as well as at the Coffee Rusts Research Centre in Portugal.
