Abstract
Information on the rooting habits of tree crops is comparatively scarce in relation to the knowledge of their aerial components. One of the main reasons has undoubtedly been the extensive work involved in excavating even a sample profile of the tree roots. By the same token, where essential tree crop root studies have been undertaken, they have invariably lacked the necessary replication required for the proper evaluation of the crops' total root spread.
