Abstract
Owing to the necessity for the highest possible production of ~ereals during and after World War II, the total acreage under wheat in the Uasin Gishu District of Kenya has risen from 45,816 acres in 1941 to 87,679 in 1947. Most of this land is being farmed Qn a system of non-stop cropping with cereals. Today one may find instances where fields have carried cereals for 25-30 years, while a succession' of cash crops for 10--15 years on the same land is regarded as normal ptactice.
