Abstract
The short rains of 1945, although not much below average, were largely CI nfined to Noverrrtler and were followed throughout the Colony by hot, dry weather until April. Hence, by the end of the hot season, the country as, a whole was in an exceptionally dry condition. Whereas, in the western half of the Colony the long rains were above average and were in many parts prolonged into an excessively wet June, July and August, in the eastern half the long rains were themselves below average.
