Abstract
Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) was grown to determine the effects of applying different nitrogen rates and time of application on dry ribbon yield and other parameters. Nitrogen applied at the rate of 43 kg/ha increased dry ribbon yield and total fresh yield and other yield components significantly. A second higher dose of nitrogen caused no significant difference in yield over the first applied dose. Different times of nitrogen application had no effect on yield of other yield component. Dry ribbon yield was significantly (P=0.01) and positively correlated with total fresh yield. Both stem diameter and height were positively correlated with dry ribbon yield.
