Abstract
Karamoja District lies in the north-east of Uganda, bordering the Turkana and West Suk Districts of Kenya in the east, and the Sudan in the north. The district measures approximately 200 miles in length by about 50 miles in breadth. Included in part of Karamoja is the Karasuk area of Kenya, which is administered by Uganda, the total area measuring about 13,000 square miles. Most of the district is an almost featureless plain which presents a picture of typical semi-arid scenery with widespread sheet erosion over much of its surface.
