Abstract
At the Eighth British Commonwealth Forestry Conference held at Nairobi in 1962, rt was recommended that conservation of wildlife be accepted as one of the objects of management of our forest estate. It should also be pointed out that one of the most important principles of good forest management is that of conservation of water catchments, upon which are dependent the resources of game, agriculture, and industry. Another such principle is that of maintaining sustained optimal yields of a wide variety of ,timber and timber products to meet the expanding requirements of the nation
