Abstract
Activity of Ethylene Forming Enzyme (EFE) was recovered in-vitro from green pea pods under two conditions. When EFE was obtained under aerobic conditions, the activity was in the microsomal membrane fraction, and none in the supernatant, while under anorexic conditions, activity was in the supernatant and none in the microsomal membrane fraction. The enzyme extracted in a soluble form under anorexic conditions, and buffer containing; 30 mM L- ascorbic acid, 100 mM HEPES (pH 7.5) and 10% (v/v) glycerol, from fresh pea pods, had a Km value of 59 flM.
