Abstract
Abstract A 1:250 000 scale soil map of part of Andhra Pradesh (Southern India) has been prepared using a collative approach, involving, monoscoplc interpretation of Landsat imagery, topographical and geological information, and systematic Interpretation of medium-scale false colour airphotos of sample areas, supported by a selective field check. The mapping units are Subgroups and Associations of Subgroups of Soil Taxonomy. The study has demonstrated that a better soil map can be prepared through conjunctive use of low spatial resolution Landsat MSS data and high resolution (air photo) data for sample areas, compared with use of Landsat data alone.
