Abstract
In an earlier runoff harvesting study conducted in Mwingi and Kitui districts using maize, Katumani composite Band 4 catchment: cultivated area ratios, it was shown that a C:CA ratio of 1: 2 was the most suitable in terms of both yield increase and economic returns. However, due to low economic returns from maize, it was decided to substitute it with the green gram, which is a higher value crop. The purpose of this study was, therefore, to quantify the yield response of green gram to this water harvesting technique under improved soil fertility conditions.
